Robert Mario De Niro Jr., known as Robert De Niro was born on August 17, 1943. He comes from an artistic family: his mother, Virginia Admiral, was a painter, and father was the founder of abstract painting and sculpture. He learned acting at Stella Adler Conservatory in New York.
De Niro made his debut in Brian De Palma's film "Greetings" (1968). His breakthrough role was in the movie "Mean Streets" (1973) where he played Jimmy Boy. So began a long collaboration with Martin Scorsese. He earned his first Oscar for the role of Vito Corleone "The Godfather Part II" (1974). For the role in "Taxi Driver" (1976) he received nomination for Golden Globe and an Oscar. His critical acclaimed role in "The Deer Hunter" (1978), got him nomination for an Oscar. He got his second Oscar for his role as Jake La Motta in "Raging Bull" (1980). Then he was also seen in "The King of Comedy", "Once Upon a Time in America", "Brazil", "The Mission", "Angel Heart" and "The Untouchables".
